Speed SkatingSpeed Skating

Speed, power and intensity — three words that describe the talented athletes who fly around the ice track in a smooth and controlled rhythm. Originally begun in the Netherlands as a way to travel over the canals in winter, speed skating’s competitive variations include long track, short track, inline and quad speed skating. Since races are generally held in pairs, the one-on-one competition heightens the excitement of the event.
